This tradition was started by the "Old Farts" like Jim Rawlins, Jim McBrayer, Robert Williams, Frank Garriga, Mason Sanders, etc. Captured below are "New Farts", who are greatful at 40-50 to be called "new" anything. In either case the Friday afternoon tradition at Vandys BBQ downtown is set and another aspect of both a GSU and alumni experience. I do remember when someone asked if they could get their bread toasted, but still even more exciting things happen. Usually the aftermath of lunch results in a nap, but a new tradition is on the horizon with a "Skeet Shoot" - watch out Dick Cheney and John Oxendine.
Update! This year you need to get your "return to Vandy's BBQ" fix on Friday as we will be having a very special catered BBQ lunch on Saturday! Best of all it will be on time starting at 11:30 am, so RSVP right away! Babe's BBQ Shack from Garden City will be serving up a lunch you will not soon forget!
After the golf tournament on Friday it has become traditional to go to the Vandy's BBQ (downtown) for lunch before the afternoon nap or the excursion around GSU. Vandy's is a Stateboro, GSU, and Sigma Nu tradition.
